God Won't Let Go

Today started as a typical day.  We read a couple of chapters from Romans, spent some time praying, and I went downstairs to workout.  Today was P90x Chest, Shoulders and Triceps, in my opinion the most challenging of all the P90x workouts.  Sometimes, instead of playing the workout video, I’ll tune into CMT and let the music drown out the pain from working out.  I made that choice today, because this video is the one I refer to as “Working Out with Helga.”

As I was into my set of two-twitch speed pushups, I heard a song by Rascal Flatts that caused me to just stop and listen.  It’s a beautiful song called “Won’t Let Go” that says

“I will stand by you
I will help you through
When you’ve done all you can do
If you can’t cope
I will dry your eyes
I will fight your fight
I will hold you tight
And I won’t let go”

God immediately brought to mind the passage from Hebrews 13:5:  Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

I don’t know the source of the songwriter’s inspiration for this song, but God used it this morning to remind me that He never lets us go.  How can anybody not get excited about that?

  2. I love that song ... and the fact that God tells us the same thing in his word ... and we know we can take THAT version to the bank!
