Distracted

After nine months of writing several days each week, I realized that I’ve hardly written at all the past few weeks.  I’ve been busy with work, which has truly been a blessing. By the time I get home from work and the gym in the evenings I’m usually ready to shut down for the day.

As Cheri and I were talking recently, I told her that the thoughts that had seemed to come so easily before were not coming so easily anymore.  I’m still reading the Bible and other books that have inspired me over the past several months, but the ideas for sharing my thoughts haven’t made it to the surface recently.

Have you ever noticed when you’ve gotten away from civilization, how clearly you can see the stars in the sky?  Without the street lights and other distractions, the stars seem to shine more brightly.  But they are the same stars you can see when you’re at home.  You just have to look past the distractions in order to get a good view of them.

I hope to be continuously busy with work, but I’m thankful for the time I’ve had to spend with God, undistracted.  It’s been a blessing to look to Him and to look at Him.  Now the challenge is to continue to seek Him even when distractions come.

“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13 ESV)
